# Introduction

AbabilX Chat is an end-to-end encrypted messenger for people and groups.

> **New here?** Install the Android app first. Your phone makes your message key, and it signs this browser in with one scan.

These docs explain how each feature works: what it does, how to use it, and what it keeps from us as well as from everyone else.

## Where to start

- **Sign in**: Scan once with your phone. The web has no other way in.
- **Get the app**: The Android app holds your key and has every feature.
- **Encryption**: What is sealed on your device, and what our servers can see.
- **Find people**: Username, QR code, email or phone, and who can find you.
- **Your chat list**: Pin, mute, lock and delete chats.
- **Flocks (webhooks)**: Post into a chat from any app, script or website.

## What you get

- Direct messages and groups, end-to-end encrypted, files included.
- Our server keeps a message only until your phones have it; your phone is the archive.
- Voice and video calls, and free, unmetered group calls with screen sharing.
- Privacy mode, private chat, Ghost Chat, view-once photos and chat lock on Android.
- Task cards, send later, snippets, Khaam cards and Note to Self.
- Flocks: read-only chats your apps post into through a webhook.
- Local Share between your devices on the same Wi-Fi.
- No email, phone number or personal details needed to start.
- An Android app that is open source on GitHub, a web client at chat.ababilx.com, and a desktop app.

## Who makes it

AbabilX Chat is built by AbabilX. No ads, no trackers, and nothing in your messages is ours to read.
